The new site seeks to:

Allow for quick & easy updating of content by internal staff;

Leverage changes in technology (specifically Macromedia Flash) to make the site faster and more responsive;

Retain as much of the version 1 design as possible, in order to keep the essence and soul of the original intact. (The original was a big hit, and the client was eager to improve without totally redesigning.)

To accomplish these goals, the new site is built on an HTML foundation (as opposed to pure Flash like the previous one), which enables use of the browser’s Back button; elements such as photos are displayed immediately upon loading and are not dependent on each other for a load sequence; and every element exists as a simple image file or text file, so immediate updates are as simple as saving a new image or editing a text document.
